Campus Life

An Experience Designed By You

If you drew a blueprint of the Slippery Rock University experience, ways to get involved would take up some serious real estate. We believe every moment of your college career offers opportunity for learning and leadership, from planning concerts with the University Program Board to organizing a late-night burger run for the folks on your floor.

How you choose to fill your time outside class is entirely up to you. Join a campus club — or — two or three. Go Greek. Take a kickboxing class. Volunteer with Special Olympics. Spend a weekend in Pittsburgh. Whatever college life means to you, SRU is the place to build it.

180+ chances to try something new.

If someone on campus hands you candy, be sure to give it a closer look. Our campus clubs often attach messages to lollipops to recruit new members or drum up attendance at upcoming events. From hunting and fishing to slam poetry, Slippery Rock has student-run clubs and organizations to fit virtually any interest. Academic groups allow you to network and make contacts in your major. Student government gives you a voice. Performance clubs champion creative expression. Religious groups offer spiritual connection. Recreation organizations give you more ways to play. And special interest groups cover passions from marine science to Japanese culture.

A knack for giving back.

Slippery Rock students have endless individual interests, but one thing they have in common is a commitment to community service. Throughout the year, SRU sponsors CareBreaks – week-long service trips that help people in need from New York to New Mexico. Since the program began, our students, faculty and staff have put in more than 200,000 hours for the greater good.
